State Accepting Public Comments on Bonner Bridge CAMA Permit Application
RALEIGH – The N.C. Division of Coastal Management is accepting public comments on a Coastal Area Management Act major permit application from the N.C. Department of Transportation for replacement of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge in Dare County.
The public comment period for this permit application extends through Aug. 11. The division’s policy is to accept all comments up to the date of the permit decision. Comments can be sent to Braxton Davis, the director of the state Division of Coastal Management, 400 Commerce Ave., Morehead City, N.C. 28557, or via email at Braxton.Davis@ncdenr.gov.

DOT proposes to replace the existing 2.4-mile two-lane bridge over the Oregon Inlet and related approaches with a new, 2.8-mile two-lane bridge and related approaches to the west of the existing bridge. The new bridge will be constructed parallel to the existing bridge.
