COASTAL MANAGEMENT MEETING WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENTS
TO EXPLAIN UPCOMING CHANGES
IN CAMA LAND-USE PLANNING GUIDELINES
RALEIGH The N.C. Division of Coastal Management will hold four meetings with coastal local governments on Tuesday, Jan. 16, to explain upcoming changes in Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) land-use planning guidelines.
Coastal Management planning staff will conduct the meetings with local government elected officials and employees to update them on the revision process and seek their input on the changes. The N.C. League of Municipalities (NCLM) and N.C. Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) handled the meeting arrangements.
The following meetings are scheduled for next Tuesday:
The N.C. Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) is revising CAMA land-use planning guidelines to increase local government planning flexibility, improve funding for land-use plans and encourage more public participation in the local planning process. The CRC will work on the changes during its meeting Jan. 25 and 26 in Kill Devil Hills. The commission will vote on the revised guidelines this fall after a series of public hearings.
The local government meetings are a cooperative effort of Coastal Management, NCLM, NCACC, the Cape Fear Council of Governments, the Mid-East Commission, the Eastern Carolina Council of Governments and the Albemarle Commission.
